Saturday 3rd May 2008 saw the 'grand opening' of Westmill Windfarm.  Adam Twine, farmer and the driving force behind this scheme thanked everyone for their support over the years.  Johnathan Porritt, well known long-standing environmental activist and Westmill Co-op member 'opened' the farm.  He spoke that he had woken to the depressing news that Boris Johnson was the new Mayor of London (depressing because his ideas on climate change come from George Bush), and coupled with the lack of positive action from Gordon Brown, he could only be inspired by the positive community action that has resulted in the Westmill Windfarm finally being built and generating clean power.

Westmill Windfarm is by the Highworth to Shrivenham road, just a few metres outside the Borough of Swindon.  It can be clearly seen from the A420 Oxford road and from the railway line from Swindon towards London.  It is also quite an impressive sight from the Lawn in Old Town.
