Faced with the possible closure of the Groundwell park & ride service from the end of March, regular users of the service and supporters of sustainable public transport joined Michael Wills MP (Lab, Swindon North) and Swindon Borough Councillor Derique Montaut (Lab, Central) for a photo call on 14th February at the Groundwell site.

An ITV News cameraman interviewed Michael Wills and SPARK founder Sara Spinks.

Swindon Borough Council plans to "mothball" the Groundwell Park & Ride service to save money in the 2009 budget. Commuters living to the north of Swindon depend on the park & ride service to get to work. Rural bus services are not frequent or reliable enough for the commuters to use and driving into Swindon is not an option, due to both parking costs and congestion on Cricklade Road.

Swindon Borough Council will make a decision on the future of the park & ride at the budget meeting on Monday 23rd February.
