On the 27th June SCAN took the stall to the Swindon Cycle Festival held at Lydiard Park, where Deb and Helen gave an interview to local radio station Swindon 105.5.

As agriculture and food production accounts for a substantial amount of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, we gave away runner bean plants in pots made out of re-used cartons, for people to grow in their gardens.

Other stalls present on the day included Sustrans, promoting the BikeIt campaign to get more children cycling, and also giving away all manner of freebies including bicycle wheel reflectors and the latest Swindon cycle route map, ...

... the Mobile Cycle Medics, selling all manner of essential bike maintenance equipment, from puncture repair kits to chain lubricant, ...

... and BikeGlow, a battery-powered illuminated cord which can be wrapped around the frame of a bike to greatly increase your night-time visibility, especially from the side.

The main attraction of the day though was the car park where people could try out all manner of weird and wonderful bikes.

The reclining bikes were very popular, there were four of them and they were in constant use.

This bike looks relatively normal, but look more closely - the axles aren't in the middle of the wheels. Makes for a bit of a bumpy ride!

I'm sure this Chopper evoked some childhood memories for some of the grown-ups in attendance.

Proof that it is indeed possible to cycle by committee. Fortunately only one person could steer.
