What is the future of maintaining healthy food supplies for a growing world population against a background of climate change and resource depletion? Are we facing a food crisis? How should we respond? Are transition plans the answer? How can we work better at both global and local level? This was the subject of a talk by Patrick Holden hosted by SCAN as part of the Swindon Festival of Literature.
Patrick Holden, CBE, is an organic farmer and erstwhile director of the Soil Association. As well as running a productive and long-established 250-acre mixed hill farm, he has now established The Sustainable Food Trust, is a member of a government food security working group, and an advisor to the Prince of Wales’ International Sustainability Unit.
The talk was followed by a Question and Answer session with an invited panel.
