What's more important, oil or water?

That’s the question posed by the Canadian documentary film 'H2OIL' which was screened at Swindon Central Library on Tuesday 12th October.

The Canadian tar sands, located under Alberta's pristine boreal forests, are now the biggest source of oil for the United States. But it takes up to four barrels of fresh clean water to produce one barrel of crude oil – and the local population is paying a high price for this recent rapid industrialisation.

The film, which started at 7:45 pm, is the first in a new series of documentary films that Swindon Film Society will be showing at the Central Library.  Tickets for the film cost £4 (£3 for SFS members - you can join on the night if you want!), available on the door on the night of the film from 7:15pm, or in advance from the Help Point on the first 1st floor of the library.
