Funny weather we're having at the moment isn't it dear?
Everything you didn't want to know about climate change but probably should find out. This excellent 16-page comic by Kate Evans introduces the idea of the greenhouse effect and greenhouse gasses, and how this is related to our consumption-driven lifestyles, and looks at the possible impact(s) of rising temperature levels, melting ice, rising sea levels, desertification, the gulf stream stopping and more. The story is played out by a cast consisting of a schoolboy investigating the subject, accompanied by a scientist who explains the technical stuff, and a big fat capitalist who comes out with the denial and spin and greenwash we're come to expect from big business. Paper copies are available from Rising Tide.

Defra's ClimateChallenge web site contains information about climate change, including a short film and an animation explaining what climate change is all about. They also invite groups to apply to the Climate Challenge Fund for grants of over £5,000 to fund communications about climate change (deadline 31st March), and they are seeking people between 10 and 18 to enter the Climate Change Champions competition.
