This is the structure of our web site, what there is of it so far, and also a place to discuss what we need to add to the site and how it should be arranged.

Site Map

This is the current structure of the site, more or less, including pages which have already been created, and pages which haven't been created yet but need to be created because there are links pointing to them.

  • Who are we? This page needs to explain why Swindon Climate Action Network exists, what we do, what we believe in, etc.
  • Events page - please list events here.
  • Links page - long lists of links are a bit boring, so we need to move these links into the relevant pages elsewhere in the web site. This page could be a good place for people to post new links if they're not sure where in the web site they should go.
  • Fun - a place to put links to cartoons, flash games, amusing video clips, that kind of thing
  • Contact Us - how do people contact us? We need to agree on contact details for the Network by phone, e-mail and snail mail.
  • What is Climate Change? A concise explanation of climate change and the greenhouse effect. Could do with fleshing out a bit.
  • Local Food - our main project at the moment is promoting the importance of locally-produced food. This page includes:
    • Links to sources of local food
    • Web resources on the importance of local food
    • Draft text of our local food leaflet
    • sbridewell 17 feb: I compiled a list of restaurants and cafes in and near Swindon a while back, which is still the FoodMiles folder in our Yahoo web site's files section. You need to be signed in to the Yahoo web site to access this file. This is raw material for the LocalFood project rather than a file to be published on the web site.
  • Reduce your CO2 emissions This ought to link to practical advice broken down into areas of lifestyle change such as
    • At home
    • Transport
    • Food miles - with a link to the Local Food page
    • Are there any other categories, and how do we define them?
    • sbridewell 17 feb: I've started this page off with some headings which don't quite match these, but there are lots of gaps in terms of both headings and explanatory text.
  • Campaigns - national and local campaign links
  • To-do list - keep track of things we need to do, are doing, have done, here.
  • Site Map - you're reading it right now.
  • Style Guide - a walkthrough for creating a basic web page in an EditMe web site, including attached files, pictures and hyperlinks. Needs updating for the latest version of the EditMe software, and needs tips and tricks and guidelines adding.

Pages we might add in the future

But where do they belong (i.e. which other page(s) should be linking to them)?

  • Carbon calculators - currently 3 linked from the Links page - should these be on their own page?
  • A page with information about contacting and keeping track of elected representatives (writetothem.com, publicwhip etc)

What would you change about / add to this site?

  • Tidy up the home page, make it a gateway into the content on the web site without making it too big. The layout and content of the home page depends very much on the content of the rest of the web site.
  • Customise the look and feel of the web site. This is also on the To-do list list and requires someone with time and CSS (and maybe XSL) experience.
  • Get more people contributing to the web site!
