What is SCAN?Swindon Climate Action Network is an independent group of people from across Swindon who are concerned about climate change and want to do something about it. We aim to raise awareness of the impacts of climate change and help people in Swindon to combat it, by encouraging them to reduce their personal carbon emissions and get involved in local and national campaigns. If you would like us to come and talk to your community group, class, business colleagues etc we would be very happy to do so. Please contact us as below. Recent events have included stalls at community events, a bike ride, a film showing, a trip to an eco-friendly building, a training event on how to reduce your climate impact and more... The group is non party political, despite including supporters from various political parties. If you would like to get involved in the group then please contact us. If you don't have enough time to be active in the group, perhaps you could consider helping us financially by setting up a standing order to give us some regular income? Click here to open a suitable standing order mandate to complete and forward direct to your bank. To find out who does what in SCAN please click here. Download a copy of SCAN's constitution here.
Why not display this poster at work, in your local school/library/church with information about SCAN? History of SCANSCAN was set up in June 2005 to bring together people in and around Swindon who are concerned about climate change. Since then the group has developed strong links with the local council, MPs and the media, and is working in conjunction with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Friends of the Earth on particular campaigns. Over 100 people attended our public meeting in September and more than a coachload went to London on Nov 4th for the climate change rally. It is easy to get involved at any level. You can follow our links for advice about making emissions cuts in your home and at work. You can email us to be on our contacts list for information about events and campaigns. Best of all you can join us at our monthly meetings and become an active volunteer with the group, helping to plan and run events and campaigns. Everyone is welcome and skills, experience or plain enthusiasm are equally vital to our goals.
